This is a repeat of an earlier episode. One day, your two-year-old loves taking a bath. They love playing with bubbles and bringing in all of their different toys. And then all of sudden... they *hate* the bath. No amount of encouragement or cajoling will get them in the tub. What's going on here? On today's episode, Dr. Becky talks with parents of a toddler about navigating the (very common) bathtime resistance phase and how it relates to another part of toddlerhood.Get the Good Inside App by Dr. Becky: https://bit.ly/4doK9nFJoin Good Inside Membership:https://bit.ly/4djKAjeGood Inside's Back to School Toolkit: https://bit.ly/46yGEswFollow Dr. Becky on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drbeckyatgoodinsideSign up for our weekly email, Good Insider: https://www.goodinside.com/newsletterOrder Dr. Becky's book, Good Inside: A Guide to Becoming the Parent You Want to Be, at goodinside.com/book or wherever you order your books. For a full transcript of the episode, go to goodinside.com/podcastTo listen to Dr. Becky's TED Talk on repair visit https://www.ted.com/talks/becky_kennedy_the_single_most_important_parenting_strategyToday’s episode is brought to you by Airbnb: Before Dr. Becky was a parent, she thought planning a family vacation would be a breeze… until she realized how much has to come together for a trip with two adults and three kids. Then she discovered Airbnb Guest Favorites. No more combing through options, reviews, and features. Guest Favorites are the most loved homes on Airbnb according to other guests. And that peace of mind when preparing for a trip is huge. Using Guest Favorites couldn’t be easier: Just go to Airbnb, add your destination, tap the filters, and hit the toggle for Guest Favorites. It’s that simple.Today’s episode is brought to you by Happy Egg: The other day, Dr. Becky realized that so many parents don’t eat their own breakfast. She, herself, often scrapes the bottom of her kid’s half-eaten yogurt container or snags two bites of their soggy cereal while running out the door. She's calling B.S. on this narrative. Parents deserve to eat and enjoy their own food in the mornings! Because she knows that fueling her mind and body helps her show up as a sturdier leader for her kids. American kids are struggling. And there's a lot of discussion around the reasons why. Is it smartphones? Is it social media? Is it a hyper-fixation on feelings and therapy? Economist, author, and host of ParentData, Emily Oster, joins Dr. Becky to discuss the latest book making the rounds in parenting circles, Bad Therapy. They delve into what parental authority is and what it isn't, how minimization of risk is not a life strategy for kids or adults, and how we can hold the idea that two things are true - we can be authorities who also come from a same-team approach with our kids.Join Good Inside Membership: https://bit.ly/3VzdNkHFollow Dr. Becky's TED Talk on repair visit https://www.ted.com/talks/becky_kennedy_the_single_most_important_parenting_strategyToday’s episode is brought to you by Garanimals: Garanimals is the original mix-and-match clothing brand for babies and toddlers in sizes newborn to 5T. We’ve put so much work into creating a loving, beautiful home for our families, whether it’s the kid’s playroom, a cozy reading corner, or even our favorite coffeemaker, and those same personal touches could also create the perfect getaway for another family. Plus, it’s an easy way to make some extra income for your next family trip. Your home might be worth more than you think. Find out how much at airbnb.com/host.

This is a repeat of an earlier episode. Meltdowns.... they seem to always happen at the absolute wrong time or worse yet in the most public of ways. Whether it's too much sugar, not enough sleep, or just a phase doesn't really matter when we as parents are just trying to get from point A to point B. Dr. Becky talks to a father of two young girls who remembers the lessons of his childhood, a time when there were things to cry about and not getting exactly what you wanted was not one of them. So how can he do it differently and not feel so triggered by his daughter's behavior? Let's get into it. Join Good Inside Membership: https://bit.ly/3QvpqWSFollow Dr. Becky's TED Talk on repair visit https://www.ted.com/talks/becky_kennedy_the_single_most_important_parenting_strategyToday’s episode is brought to you by SEED: It feels important to speak to the very real things in life that parents are dealing with. When your kid comes home from school and declares "I'm the worst at math" or, "everyone is better at gymnastics than me", you might think that you can teach them to believe in themselves with some words of encouragement. But confidence doesn't come from the outside. True confidence comes from feeling good enough inside. This week, Dr. Becky talks to a mom who is doing all the right things to teach her son to believe in himself but it just isn’t working.Join Good Inside Membership: https://bit.ly/48kbA0mFollow Dr. Becky's TED Talk on repair visit https://www.ted.com/talks/becky_kennedy_the_single_most_important_parenting_strategyToday’s episode is brought to you by SEED: When kids are in a picky eating stage, one of the things that goes out the window is fiber - which is really important for regular bowel movements and the gut microbiome. 95% of children and adults in the U.S. don’t reach their daily recommended fiber intake. And it can be especially tricky to get enough fiber into the diets of picky eaters. With one serving of Seed’s PDS-08, your child is getting a third of their recommended daily fiber intake. You can just pour the pre-portioned sachets of naturally sweet powder into yogurt, a smoothie, milk — or whatever works for your family. Everyone wins: you don’t feel as stressed and your child gets all the benefits of a healthy gut — and, to be honest, more regular, easier poops! When your child is being rude it's easy to fall into the trap of yelling, issuing timeouts, or threats. But behavior is not identity and as parents, we have a choice. We can choose to see it as our kids disrespecting us or we can choose to see it as our kids having a hard time and needing us to show them the emotion regulation skills they need. It's time to reframe defiance. When our kids don't listen to us or are being "defiant" by doing the complete opposite of what we've asked them to do, it's important to remember that they are still good kids. They are good kids who need firm and loving boundaries, connection, and to feel a little powerful on occasion. This week, Dr. Becky chats with a mom struggling with her son's "defiant" behavior and who's looking for a way to reconnect and repair with him.Get the Good Inside App by Dr. Becky: https://bit.ly/3WvCDRnFollow Dr. Becky's TED Talk on repair visit https://www.ted.com/talks/becky_kennedy_the_single_most_important_parenting_strategy For more on the Avoiding Entitlement Guide: https://bit.ly/4eDkY0N

Truth: Feeding small children is hard and stressful. But here's another truth: You are a good parent even if your kid is only eating crackers right now. You are a good parent even if your kid hasn't touched a vegetable in months. And you are a good parent if you are bottle feeding instead of breastfeeding. What your child eats or doesn't eat isn't an indication of your parenting. This week Dr. Becky and Megan McNamee of Feeding Littles get real and deep about feeding small children and everything it can bring up.Get the Good Inside App by Dr. Becky: https://bit.ly/3ylf8SRFollow Dr. For a full transcript of the episode go to goodinside.com/podcastTo listen to Dr. Becky's TED Talk on repair visit https://www.ted.com/talks/becky_kennedy_the_single_most_important_parenting_strategy For more on the Avoiding Entitlement Guide: https://bit.ly/4eDkY0N
