No one was ever convicted of the Tylenol murders. But many in law enforcement believed that they had a decent circumstantial case against James Lewis. A longtime con man, Lewis was convicted of attempting to extort Johnson & Johnson, the company behind Tylenol. He had a troubled past, including one other murder charge where he walked after a Miranda violation. He also had a penchant for taunting investigators. On July 9, 2023, Lewis was found dead.
