Barton Mitchell in studio to give us insight into what it took to bring the story of Derelict and it's prequel Fathom to life. Thirty one hours ago, the IWS Crichton discovered the remains of a derelict vessel in an unexplored star system.  Eleven hours ago, all contact with the Crichton was lost... When the galaxy's most powerful corporation discovers that the derelict ship belongs to them, they send a group of washed up engineers and scientists who would do anything to reconstruct their shambled lives. In this new installment of Curious Matter Presents, we are featuring Midnight Burger Season 1 Episode 6. This hilariously addictive romp through the cosmos has taken the audio fiction world by storm and is currently nominated for BEST FICTION PODCAST in the 2024 Podcast Academy Awards, aka the Ambies! Joe Fisher is on today to tell us a little bit about how this time-traveling dimension-hopping adventure popped into the universe. A little bit more about Midnight Burger: When Gloria took a waitressing job at a diner outside of Phoenix, she didn't realize she was now an employee of Midnight Burger, a time-traveling, dimension-spanning diner. Every day Midnight Burger appears somewhere new in the cosmos along with it's staff: a galactic drifter, a rogue theoretical physicist, a sentient old-timey radio, and some guy named Caspar. No one knows who built Midnight Burger or how it works, but when it appears there's always someone around who could really use a cup of coffee. "When the waves of the universe crash unrelentingly, when the stars seem indifferent to your plight, suddenly there is a diner." We open at 6. Oh no, this time the diner has found itself in a dystopian Earth where the ads are LITERALLY stuck in your head. That's right, it's the worst dystopia of all. No mohawks, no zombies, no improvised weaponry... just more ads. Cast: Gloria - Siouxsie Suarez Caspar - Joe Fisher Ava - Finlay Stevenson Zebulon Mucklewain - Neal Starbird Effie Mucklewain - Julie Cowden-Starbird Leif - Tom Moorman Guest Starring: Benjamin Burdick as Officer Valvoline Jessica Morris as Mary Written and Directed by Joe Fisher Produced by Joe Fisher and Finlay Stevenson Music: Insufficient Sweetie - Ukulele Ike Sweeter as the Years Go By - Criterion Quartette Brighten the Corner Where You Are - Homer Rodeheaver The Harbor Bell - Charles Harrison Subscribe today on your favorite podcast app! In this Curious Matter Presents we are taking a turn towards the silly and bringing you an episode of Oz-9 as well as a special interview with creator Shannon Perry. Described as Gilligan's Island meets the Office in Space, this series brings all the hijinks, mischief, and mayhem anyone could ask for. On a random Tuesday in 2142, 400 Oz ships, each carrying a cargo of 50,000 sleeping rich people, were launched from Earth by a corporation called Gated Galaxies. On a mission to seek out, terraform, and probably rudely exploit any planet they stumble upon, the Oz ships were a great way to get rid of not only some very rich idiots, but also their crews of petty thieves and thugs. This is the story of one such ship, the Oz 9, where the pods have already started going dark. For more information about the show please visit: https://oz-9.com/ Learn more about your ad choices. In our first Curious Matter Presents we are bringing you the pilot episode of Rapscallion Agency and a special interview with creators Christof Leputka and Robin Shore to learn a little about the show and the Leviathan Chronicles Universe. Set shortly after the events of the award-winning podcast The Leviathan Chronicles, The Rapscallion Agency continues the adventures of its two youngest characters, Lisette Mainsabiles and Paul Lee (aka Cluracan) who moved to Paris and use their unique skills to start a business, navigate young love, and lovingly care for a cybernetic rat. After converting a bakery van into their mobile hi-tech headquarters, Lisette and Cluaracan explore Paris by calling upon old acquaintances to help them find work for their new agency, But during a professional ‘audition’, Lisette and Cluracan are double-crossed, managing to escape with a priceless research asset that makes them a target of a powerful international conglomerate, VeyTech Pharmaceutical. As they try to decode the mystery in their possession, they have to stay alive as they are ruthlessly hunted by an assassin with a metal arm while figuring out who they can really trust to help them escape France. The Leviathan Chronicles is a full cast audio drama about a race of immortals that have been secretly living in a hidden city called Leviathan, deep under the Pacific Ocean. For centuries, the utopian society has existed in peace, gently influencing world events on the surface. But soon, a civil war erupts between the immortals that wish to stay hidden, and those that want to integrate fully with the rest of mankind on the surface. A clandestine division of the CIA known as Blackdoor discovers the immortals’ existence and seeks to eliminate the perceived threat that they represent to U.S. sovereignty. Soon, a three-way war erupts across the globe as each faction fights for supremacy, leaving the fate of the world hanging in the balance.
