We'll also hear from Paul, who faced many challenges like shipwrecks and imprisonment, and yet, told us why we are to rejoice in our sufferings. We are safe and well but are still without Internet and cell phone. This makes it quite difficult to upload or edit  episodes for sound effects,  music etc. This is not our usual episode but I wanted to get this information out to you as well as encourage the kids from what we have learned during the storm. We have seen God show up in beautiful ways and have seen people be the hands and feet of Christ during it. I hope it encourages kids and reminds them of God's goodness and provision even during storms; whether it's a literal or figurative storm in their life.  We appreciate your patience as we await for some of the infrastructure where we live to get up and going. Please pray for those men and women who have been working 15 hour das on the powerlines, fixing the water system, and those helping the community. Please pray for those who lost everything. So many have lost businesses or homes and most don't have flood insurance because this event was such a rare situation.  You can contact me here https://www.kbspodcast.com/ and know I will respond once I am able to get a signal.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We then hear Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, where He is celebrated with palm branches as the crowd shouts "Hosanna!"—a moment that fulfills the prophecy in Zechariah 9:9. We explore the significance of these events, especially their connection to Palm Sunday, and how they were all part of God’s divine plan. The episode concludes with a reflection on the resurrection of Jesus, emphasizing His promise of eternal life to all who believe in Him. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- To enjoy the library of bonus content (coloring pages, sheets, memory verse, etc) for the episodes go here and click bonus content. Colossians 3:12-17 & Ephesians 5:20 Today we read Paul's letter to the Colossians. He writes, " And whatever you do, whether in word or action, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." The kids will learn that this really means in whatever we do. We don't give thanks or serve God only when we are having fun or getting a gift.  To help them understand, we use real life examples: Instead of complaining that they they have to clean up their toys, they can remember they get to clean them up because they are thankful God gave them toys to clean up. Scripture Reference: 2 Kings 7:1-16, Proverbs 3:5 In the city of Samaria, there was a big problem—no food! Four lepers decide to go to the enemy camp to see if they can find anything to eat. To their surprise, they find the camp empty! Tune in to hear what God did that caused the camp to be empty and save the people in an unexpected way.  Kids will define what a famine and prophet are.  We’ll discuss the power and goodness of God; how He provides in ways we’d never expect and that we can trust our loving Father.  We’ll discuss how the lepers understood that to stay silent and to selfishly not share the blessings would be sin.  They knew others had no food!  They had a responsibility to share the good news. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To enjoy the library of bonus content (coloring pages, sheets, memory verse, etc) for the episodes go here and click bonus content. Numbers 27:1-11. Join us on one of  Bible's lesser-known scriptures in our new series: "Hidden Gems: The Lesser-Known Stories of the Bible." In this episode, we explore the courageous scripture of the five Daughters of Zelophehad. Join us as we uncover how these remarkable sisters stood up in order to inherit their father’s land; a bold move that led to a historic change in the law. Key Takeaways: Faith in Action: These sisters demonstrated profound faith and determination. Believing that God would provide for them, they took action, which reminds us that faith often requires us to step forward and act. God's Just: The story highlights God’s commitment to justice. When Moses sought God’s guidance, He affirmed the sisters' plea, showing that God values the rights and inheritances of all His people, including women. Kids will remember that this was a first. Most cultures then didn’t value children and women but God changes that. Legacy of Change: The decision in favor of the Daughters of Zelophehad didn’t just affect their immediate situation—it instituted a new law that impacted the entire community. This shows how courageous actions can lead to significant societal changes.   ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To enjoy the library of bonus content (coloring pages, sheets, memory verse, etc) for the episodes go here and click bonus content. Statistics are showing an increase of worry and anxiety in children.  This will be a little different from our usual episode but the Bible has a lot to say about this so we thought we should address it.  We will differentiate between fear, worry, and and anxiety and give each emotion their own episode.  Today we discuss fear: Are there good fears? ie; fear of fire, or fear of the Lord Can fear lie to us? Why does God tell us not to be afraid? What promise does he give with it **If you would like to hear all of David and Goliath that episode is :#112 "There's no one like you." #307 "What if David had a Bad Attitude" is a shortened version with a different application. Resources we've used for this: "The Worry free Parent" & "Raising Worry Free Girls" by Sissy Goff.  To enjoy the library of bonus content (coloring pages, sheets, memory verse etc) for episodes go here and click bonus content. Psalm 119:105-112 & John 8:12   Kids Bible Stories Podcast: Episode - "Jesus: The True Light" In today's episode, we explore the powerful message of Jesus as the ultimate beacon in our lives, shining brighter and truer than any other source. We learned that Jesus describes Himself as "the light of the world," offering us guidance, peace, love, forgiveness, and direction unlike any other. Unlike deceptive lights in the world, like the angler fish's lure, which may seem appealing but lead to harm, Jesus' light is always genuine and life-giving. We also delved into how God's word acts as a lamp for our feet and a light on our path, guiding us through life's journey. This divine light isn't found in the shows we watch, the advice of friends, or the allure of commercials enticing us to desire material things. It's in the Bible, God's word, which always leads us toward what's truly good. We discussed the importance of discerning between the misleading "lights" of the world—like the temptations of consumerism or messages that encourage disrespect—and the one true light, Jesus, who desires what's best for us. Remember, the next time you're faced with a decision or a direction, ask yourself: does this align with the light that Jesus offers? Key Takeaways: Jesus is the true light that guides us with love and truth. God's word is our ultimate source of guidance, not the fleeting attractions of the world. Always test what guides you by comparing it to the teachings of the Bible. Genesis 7:11-20 The rain begins and continues for 40 days and 40 nights. Even though the ark goes through rough waters, Noah, his family, and the animals remain safe inside just as God promised. The kids will love hearing this one come to life! Kids will be reminded that when they feel like life's storms are tossing them around, to: remember Noah remember the ark and most importantly, remember that just as God protected Noah, and Jesus calmed the sea, God is still watching over you, keeping you safe in the storms of life. How do I know I can trust him? Because of the cross. I look to it and  remember that God sent his only son, Jesus. That Jesus died on the cross and rose again. Genesis 7:1-10 & Ephesians 4:3  Your kids will love this one! Noah, his family, and allllll those animals wait for 7 days inside the ark for the rain to begin. Kids will note that lions were with lambs, cats with mice yet somehow, they got along. We will hear that God is all powerful; taking care of every single detail. Noah didn’t know how it was all going to work but God didn’t say he needed to know.  He just needed to have faith to do what he was called to do and God would take care of the rest: including making those animals get along. We also discuss how we are to "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." As christians we won't all look the same, have the same talents and weaknesses and we will disagree at times, but it’s that same love of Jesus, that same goal of following Him that reminds us to work through problems with peace  in order to keep working together to help others know Jesus.  Access our coloring page AND BRAND NEW Noah Bible Study that follows the episodes here. Genesis 6:9-14 & John 14:1-2 In our last episode, we discovered that the world had gone wrong, and today we are going to learn how God used Noah who seemed ordinary, but he faithfully walked with God. We put ourselves in Noah's shoes considering what it may have felt like to be him. Noah probably recognized  how big this mission was going to be. He would have considered the practical challenges of constructing an ark of such colossal proportions. It may have felt both awe-inspiring and scary yet Noah trusted God and obeyed Him. Psalm 66:19 & Matthew 7:7-8 Join us in an our very own original story about a boy who is anxious for tomorrow's test. When he tells his sister his worries, she suggests they pray about it. His sister reminds him of the Bible verses they've heard about prayer and soon, he is feeling less anxious. We will touch on the fact that prayer does not always mean we get exactly what we want. Sometimes the situation does not change BUT prayer can change our hearts. No prayer ever goes unanswered. I remind the kids that if the prayer is not answered how we wanted it to it does’t mean God isn’t listening, it doesn't mean he does’t love you, or isn’t powerful enough to change a situation. God's timing and knowledge is better than ours and we can trust Him. Please join us in sending prayers to the children at Oasis for Orphans. 1 Kings 19:19-21 If you have missed any episodes in our Elijah series, I would highly recommend you go back and listen to them because the episodes build upon each other. Today Elijah finds the man who will be taking his place… Elisha. Elijah throws his cloak onto Elisha symbolizing that he is next....tagging him to take his place. We discuss that when God called Elisha, he was doing normal, every day work. Sometimes our work or tasks may seem "normal"( ie: learning to read, helping with the dishes, etc) BUT they all have purpose when we do them with excellence to glorify God AND often God uses those things to prepare us for what's next. Exodus 19:1-4, Luke 1:30-33,1 Kings 3:5, 2 Timothy 3:16, 1 Thessalonians 2:13,Isaiah 40:8, Hebrews 4:12, Matthew 24:35, John 14:26,& Romans 8:11 Today, we are doing something a bit different than our  normal episode because I want  to answer a question that many children have been asking me. In last weeks Elijah episode, we heard that God spoke to Elijah  in a whisper and kids have been asking, "Does God still speak to us today?" I will do my best to answer that question today! The kids will learn that: 1. During Elijah's time, they didn't have the entire Bible. 2. The Holy Spirit was sent after Jesus' resurrection (Acts 2:1-4) 3. We have the entire Bible, the written word of God now. 4. Now, believers have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside us (John 14:25-26) We will return to our normal episode format with Elijah next week so tune in! 1Kings 19:9-18 & James 4:8  On today's episode we find Elijah hiding in the cave. Instead of hearing God fuss at Elijah, we hear him as a gentle, loving father asking Elijah what he is doing there. Wind blows, the earth quakes, and fire burns; we see God's mighty power on display but even in that, he is still found in the whisper. God is close enough that Elijah can hear his whisper. 1 Kings 19:1-8 As you have followed along with our Elijah series you've probably noticed Elijah has been obeying God and doing the right things, but today he gets some scary news from Jezebel and now Elijah says he has had enough. God's response to Elijah's cry is beautiful. He doesn't downplay Elijah's feelings or scold him. Instead, he sends an angel to provide food and water. When we are hungry and tired, our emotions can run wild. Sometimes it's those simple provisions of food, water, and rest that seem simple but are exactly what we need for our strength. The kids will hear that Elijah was a real human with real feelings and fears; real needs like food and rest. When we feel like we've had enough, we can talk honestly to God just like Elijah did and God will be right there to listen and comfort us too. 1 Kings 18:40-46 & James 5:17 Today we hear Elijah tell Ahab that the drought is finally ending. Elijah knows the rain is coming but it is not until the seventh time that his servant makes the trip to the sea that there are signs of rain. Elijah faithfully waits and sends his servant to look over and over again. God was with Elijah when things happened immediately like in last week's episode, BUT He's also with him in the waiting. I point out that the Bible says that Elijah was a man like us. That gives us encouragement that we too can pray fervently as he did. We have a few more exciting Elijah episodes left so make sure to tune in! 1 Kings 18:16-39 & Exodus 20:3  This episode is full of action when Ahab and Elijah meet again. Elijah asks the people "How long will you try to serve both Baal and God?" The people have wandered from God and God is calling them back to His loving arms. Elijah has set a challenge; their Baal versus God. Tune in to see what happens. We will discuss: 1. That Elijah didn't do this to make much of himself but to make much of God. You hear that in his speech. 2. God is patient. He calls the people back to Him. 1 Kings 18: 1-16If you have missed any Elijah episodes, please go back & listen because these build upon them selves. Today we meet faithful Obadiah who hid the Lord's prophets in caves to protect them from Jezebel. We connect Obadiah's actions to what St Augustine said,  “ Right is right even if no one is doing it; wrong is still  wrong even if everyone else is doing it.” Many of you are about to start a brand new school year. As you start, I want you to remember the story of Obadiah and Elijah. Some days at school you may feel like your family is the only one who thinks and acts the way God wants us to, it’s still right even if it seems like you’re the only one AND remember this, the enemy would love for you to believe the lie that you’re the only ones left doing what is right, loving and obeying God. That is not true though. In today's story and all throughout the Bible you can hear over and over again that there is always a remaining group of people who love and follow Jesus. You aren’t alone.  Purchase the coloring and activity book for this Elijah series on Amazon here!  OR To enjoy the Bonus content that goes with our episodes or connect with us go here https://www.kbspodcast.com/ THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!   See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
1 Kings 17:7-24 & 2 Corinthians 5:7 ~Make sure to listen to part 1 as these build upon themselves. ~ Today we hear God tell Elijah to go to the widow that he has commanded to feed him. Remember, the drought is still happening so food is scarce. The widow was a real woman with real feelings and fears. Elijah's request required the widow to practice faith. She had to choose to walk by faith and not by sight. Tune in to hear how she handles it, if God keeps his word (spoiler alert, He always does,) and how God can use you just as he used the widow. 1 Kings 17:1-6 & I John 3:1 Today we start a new series on Elijah. He had a fascinating life; filled with lots of twists, turns, & incredible miracles. We start out giving some context and then jump into hearing God forecasting a drought. You'll be amazed at how God provides food and water for Elijah. Luke 4:1-13 This is part 1 in our short series where we find Jesus being tempted in the desert by the devil. We will learn that  the devil is always a slick and slimy one trying to twist God's words. The devil tries to tempt Jesus into proving that He really is God's son. Of course Jesus is God's son! Jesus knows this truth and does not need to prove anything to the devil so He does not fall for it. We learn that we too can remember the truth of whose we are: we are loved children of God. We apply this truth to help us w/ pride or the feeling to prove ourselves. 1 Kings 14:20-31, 1 Kings 15: 1-15, &  Psalm 136: 1-4 Out of respect for each families ages and stages of life, I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures yourself to see what’s appropriate for your family.  The Solomon episodes also build upon themselves so please go back and listen to ones you may have missed. Today we went through a little bit of a family tree as we followed the kings. We find that most of these kings follow in their father's footsteps and do not follow God. Nevertheless we hear that God does not withdraw His love and is faithful. He kept Jerusalem safe, sticking to His promise we heard Him give David many episode ago. The kids are reminded that God's love never changes. We see this evidence as we hear today's events and read Psalm 136. We have 1 more episode in our Solomon series. 1 Kings 13:1-10, 33-34 & Numbers 8:16-19 Today we hear King Jeroboam's hand suddenly become paralyzed but then miraculously healed when the man of God prays for it. This still does not change Jeroboam's heart and he continues to do evil. We take note that even though Jeroboam still seems like the bad guy, the man of God prayed for him. The kids are reminded to think about someone they know who is far from God and to pray for that person this week. Please join me in helping with the hunger crisis in Somalia. 1 Kings 12: 25-32 & Exodus 32:1-4 If you’ve missed the previous Solomon episodes, please go back and listen or you may be confused as to how we got where we are in today’s story. It is listed as Solomon part I. Today, we hear King Jeroboam set up 2 golden calves as idols for the people in his kingdom. We define what idols are and also prompt the kids to talk with their families about: 1. Ways to grow your love for God 2. Discuss the shows you watch and see if you notice characters idolizing things. 3. Talk about what it looks like to like something versus loving something. God is a loving father & it’s His pleasure to give us good things & see us enjoy them but there’s a difference b/n enjoying something and loving it more than God.  Please join me in helping with the hunger crisis in Somalia. 1 Kings 12:20-24 & Romans 14:11The kingdom is divided: Solomon’s son Rehoboam is king over the southern kingdom, Judah while Jeroboam is king over northern kingdom, Israel. King Rehoboam is not happy about this and assembles an army to win back his kingdom. Will they battle OR does God have a different plan for their lives? We discuss the fact that God says "This is my doing." We are reminded God is always in control and has plans for our lives even when we can't always see it or feel it. We can trust his control and His plans. Why do I trust Him? I trust Him because I can look to the cross to see the His rescue plan for us. The cross reminds me of the cost Jesus paid, the love we are given, and the salvation we didn't earn or deserve. All of this reminds me, I can trust God's plans. Please join me in helping with the hunger crisis in Somalia. For just $12, you can help feed a family for an entire month! 1 Kings 12:1- 17  Today we hear how the kingdom becomes divided and review the sections each king rules, it's name, and the tribes of each. We also point out that the Bible says these events are brought about by the Lord, that He might fulfill his word, which the Lord spoke by Ahijah to Jeroboam. It reminds me there will be times in life where it's not always as it seems. I imagine some in the kingdom were upset and concerned that the kingdom was dividing, but we can trust that God is in complete control. He just told them that the  situation  they are going through was from Him. He was still in control and had plans that they couldn’t quite understand. 1 Kings11:1-6, 9-13, 26-43, & Luke 1:31-33   In order to respect each families ages and stages of life I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures listed so you can include what’s appropriate for your family.  Today we hear what happens at the end of Solomon's reign. Though Solomon sinned, making us wonder how the promise could ever be kept, the kids will see the Gospel woven throughout the Bible as they hear again the promise is fulfilled in the one who was born that Christmas day....Jesus. Jesus Christ will sit on the throne and His kingdom will have no end. What wonderful news!  Thanks for listening and sharing the Bible with your children! 1 Kings 10:1-14, 22-24,  & Ecclesiastes 2:1-11  Today we begin to comprehend just how wealthy Solomon was. With his wealth and his wisdom, Solomon tells us anything he saw and wanted, he got. This might sound incredible but Solomon learned a very valuable lesson that everything is meaningless without God. Things or fame, none of that will satisfy us fully because what we are really searching for is God. The Creator of our souls is the one who satisfies us. The kids will hear examples of this so they can begin to understand how this applies to their own lives. 1 Kings 8:1-24, 54-56, & 1 Kings 9: 1-9 We are continuing our Solomon series. If you’ve missed a few, I'd highly recommend you go back and listen as they build upon themselves.Today's episode picks up after Solomon completed the temple (episode # 280). We listen in as Solomon prays to the Lord and hear what the Lord says to Solomon in return. The Lord warns him and his descendants not to turn away from Him, not to wander and serve other gods. The kids will begin to understand that out of His love, God gives us rules and consequences. When he tells us to do something it's because it's for our own good! He wants to protect us and He offers us things that are real, lasting, and loving versus other things that have fake promises. I try to help the children connect these dots with real life examples they can understand. Thanks for tuning in & helping teach the Bible to your children. Matthew 27:50-56,  2 Chronicles 3:8-14 & Hebrews 4:14, 16  In our last episode, we heard Solomon built the temple. Today, we are going to hear something really important that happened at the temple on the day Jesus was crucified. We just celebrated Easter so I think this is a perfect time to discuss the significance of the veil being torn. I hope your kids enjoy it! 1 Kings 5:1-10, 6:1-20,29-38, 1 Samuel 16:7, & 1 John 4:19 Today we hear Solomon build a magnificent temple for the Lord. Below, there are links you can visit to see a video of what Solomon's temple looked like.  We hear how  marvelous Solomon's temple was but the kids are reminded that Solomon didn't need to earn God's love and neither do we. 1 John 4:19 "We love because He first loved us."  God chose to love us first, we didn’t have to earn it by becoming rich and famous or building the most impressive building.  Sometimes people will only be kind or loving if they are first shown that. For example, you will only share your bike if they first share their rollerblades. That's not how God works. He shares His love with us first!   I hope you enjoy today's continuation of our Solomon series. To see a video of Solomon's temple go here : https://youtu.be/y2tha7ogpecTo see more about the significance of the rooms, carvings, location, and all of the meanings, search "Solomon's Temple Explained" on YouTube. To connect with me, go to https://www.kbspodcast.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
1Kings 3:1-15, 1Kings 4:20-34 , & Proverbs 3:14-15  If you missed last weeks episode, make sure to go back and listen so you understand how we got to where we are. Today we hear Solomon ask God for wisdom. This pleases God and God not only gives him wisdom but riches. We will learn that Solomon wrote some of this wisdom down in the book of Proverbs and read a verse showing the value of wisdom. In this world you may hear people call something wise when actually it’s the opposite, it's foolish. This is why It's important we always go back to our Bibles to see what it says about Godly wisdom.  I hope your family enjoys this episode in our Solomon series.  To connect with me, simply go to https://www.kbspodcast.com/ See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
1Kings1:28-53, 1 Kings2:1-4,10-12,&  Chronicles 22:7-10  If you missed last week, we began the Solomon series. I highly recommend you go back and listen as the episodes build upon themselves. Today, we hear King David give important instructions to Solomon before he passes.  Adonijah's status of king is short lived when Solomon is crowned king. We remember that long ago, God said all of this would happen.  The kids will hear us discussing this important fact that God's plans can never be messed up.   We also note that David made some terrible decisions but turned to God and asked him for forgiveness. The kids will be reminded that even our mistakes can be used in God's plan and even though David had some huge mess ups, it did not disqualify him from God's love or God's plan. That brings us peace and encouragement! To be age appropriate, we are not discussing certain details about David's sin, but if it's something your family is ready to discuss, please do so.  Tune in next week to hear what Solomon will do as the new king. 1 Samuel 16:6-12, 1 Kings 1:1-25,  Chronicles 22:7-10 Today we kick off our series on Solomon. We begin with a quick refresher on David since that is Solomon's father. As David aged, his reign as king was coming to an end. It was time for him to announce who would rule after him but before David even chose, one of his other sons, Adonijah, decided he would be king next, not Solomon. How will David choose who should become king next? We read in Chronicles  that long before this moment, the Lord told David who would become king next.  I hope you enjoy this Solomon series.  Parents, some parts of episodes are adapted out of respect for the variety of ages that listen (Examples include adaptions for  graphic violence and sex). Scripture is always referenced for parents to read  and include more as is appropriate for their family.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We are going to learn about Solomon 1 episode at a time and let me tell you, the Bible is never boring so buckle up. Parents I have adapted some of these episodes out of respect for each family's ages and stages of  life. I always include the scripture for you to read yourself and include what's appropriate for your family. We will hear what the Bible says about this and move to an example so the kids can understand it. They will learn that rules are actually loving; a way to protect us and bring us delight.  Please help us reach our goal of sponsoring 100 children through Compassion International. 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 & 1 John 4:7, 9-10 This begins a short series on love. To celebrate Valentine's Day this month, I decided it would be good to see what the Bible has to say about love. Where does love come from? Who created it? What does it look like? Tune in to hear what the Bible has to say about these questions. 1 John 4:9-10: " This is how God showed his love to us: He sent his only Son into the world to give us life through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and God sent his Son to die in our place to take away our sins."     Thanks for allowing me to play a small part in teaching your children about Jesus. Matthew 28 :1-10, 16-20 & Isaiah 40:8  Today, we hear Jesus promise to be with us ALWAYS! Not only on good days or when we are awake, but always!!! We hear Him say to go out and make disciples. The kids will learn what disciple means. We will also  take a minute to marvel at just how far the Gospel has spread. Ephesians 1:13  & Daniel 6:16- 17  Today we continue our short series about the Holy Spirit. We hear the word seal or sealed  in the two Bible readings on this episode. But what does that mean? Paul said "And in Christ, God put his special mark on you, a seal,  by giving you the Holy Spirit that He had promised."  We discuss what the signet ring was used for historically and its significance. When God sends us the Holy Spirit, it’s like God taking his special signet ring and stamping us with it.  God’s seal shows the world that we are His! Acts 1:12-14, 2:1-19, 32-33, 38-39, & John 14: 25 We start our episode hearing Jesus tell his disciples that the Father will send them the Helper, the Holy Spirit. But when will He send Him? Today's episode addresses this.  We fast forward to after Jesus has risen and returned to heaven. The kids will get a brief order of events to help them understand when the episode takes place. We hear the Holy Spirit arrive...howling wind, flames of fire, everyone miraculously speaking different languages... incredible !!!!! Peter addresses the crowd who is chuckling at this wild site. Peter explains what is happening and reminds them that the Holy Spirit is a gift from God.  There is so much to say about the Holy Spirit. Today we will cover when He arrived and how He helps us. Next week we will discuss another aspect of the Holy Spirit so tune in. Your children may have many questions........mine asked me 10 questions about Heaven yesterday !  Don't shy away from them. Be honest. If you don't know, tell them you will look it up and see what your Bible says or other online, Biblically sound resources have to say. I've also found it helpful to ask them what they think. It gives you a gauge on what they already know and sometimes clarifies what they're actually asking. There will also be times we don't have an answer..God is God, we are not, so we don't know it all but, we can remind our kids that we can trust what He says & pray for help to understand his Word.  To connect with me, simply go to https://www.kbspodcast.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Acts 1:1-11 & Luke 24: 36-43 We just celebrated Christmas, which reminds us of Jesus' 1st coming. Today, we will hear the Bible teach about His second coming as we hear what the disciples experienced.   Jesus gave us  instructions on how we should live while we wait for him to return and guess what… He left us w/ some incredible promises as we wait too. We will talk about those more in the next episodes. For now, we remember we have hope. Why?  Because God always keeps his promise so when the Bible says Jesus will come back, we can trust Jesus will return and that, that  gives us hope.  To connect with me, click here: https://www.kbspodcast.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Micah 5:2, John 3:16-18, & Luke 2:1-7 Today we learn what a prophet is when we introduce Micah. We discuss how Micah specifically told where Jesus would be born and we follow the journey God put Mary and Joseph on to get them from Nazareth to Bethlehem. God used different people, events, etc but it allllllll happened just as He said it would. This story also drives home John 3:16-18; that God sent his son Jesus, not to condemn the World, but to save us through Jesus. What a precious gift this is! In today's episode we discuss what advent means. This is our introduction before we begin our daily, short, Advent Bible readings. We've made these very simple, practical, and engaging. You do not have to purchase anything or print things.  We wanted to make it very easy for you, the parent, who is the primary teacher to consistently use this tool this advent season. Our prayer is that this tool comes alongside you, parents,  helping to equip and empower you to  teach your children about Jesus.   We hope you enjoy it! 2 Chronicles 20: 1-6, 14-17, 21-23 & Psalm 118:1 Today we hear that King Jehoshaphat and his people faced a war which they didn't want to be a part of. They still gave thanks to God during the tough time, even before the war was won.  We also briefly discuss the origins of the Thanksgiving holiday and learn that the pilgrims and those in our Bible story had a lot of sad and hard things they could’ve focused on, yet they chose to look for some good things to thank God for. This doesn’t mean we have to put on a happy face or ignore sad feelings; it means we still trust that God is good, He loves us, and we can be thankful for that even in sad times. We will hear a special ending as our wonderful listeners chime in on what they are thankful for.  Thanks for listening! Job 34:19 & Isaiah 64:8 Today will be different than our normal Bible stories because we are doing a special episode to explore the  large world our God has made, learn about the people he created, and hear how we are the same and different.  Sometimes, we can get caught up in seeing just our little world and forget that not everyone lives the way we do. We explore the world as we hear about a group of children in the Philippines and how they get to school. Everyone gets to see just how big the world is, but how connected we are in Jesus.  The link to see the kids crossing in the canoe and learn more about them is here: https://explorer.compassion.com/how-do-you-get-to-school/ The website has cool activities, pictures, and articles your family can enjoy too.   Joshua and I also hope you can join us in sponsoring a child through Compassion International.  We trust the way they work which is why Joshua and I have been sponsoring kids from Compassion International long before this podcast ever aired. Psalm 119:105-112 & John 8:12 Today's story is shorter than usual b/c we need time to discuss it. In this episode, the Bible shows us Jesus is the best light, the real light. The kids will consider if there are bad lights. This is where our fireflies and fish discussion comes in.  The magnificent light Jesus offers us helps guide us… “Your word is a lamp to my feet,  a light on my path" through God’s word. The kids will recognize that  some things try to be a brighter light than Jesus & pull our attention to it. Sometimes, these "lights" want to guide us and act like they are the best light but they aren’t. Only Jesus is the 1 true light, who wants what’s really best for us. John 1:43-51 Today we hear Jesus gather more followers; Phillip and Nathanael. Nathanael doubts that the the savior could come from the town of Nazareth. We hear  Jesus' response to this and from it learn that Jesus knows what’s going on inside of us, our thoughts and feelings, and He knows what’s going on outside of us.  Jesus is such a powerful & loving father that there will never be a time when He does not know what’s going on in your life and that brings us comfort today. John 1:19-23 & 35-42 In today's episode, we will hear priests asking John the Baptist who he is. They have journeyed all the way to find him in order to understand who he really was.  We discuss that there are others in the Bible with the same name so it's important to know which John we are reading about.  We also meet Andrew and hear that he was excited to follow Jesus. Andrew couldn't wait to tell his brother, Simon, all about the Messiah. The kids will be reminded that we too get to tell others about Jesus just like Andrew did.  Today's episode is sponsored by the Christian Standard Bible translation and the brand new Explorer Bible for Kids. I hope  today's episode reminds your family of God's truth and encourages conversations.  Parents, please join us in our goal of sponsoring 100 children through Compassion International. Matthew 15:29-39 We continue our compassion series. If you’ve missed the previous ones, please go back and listen as they build upon themselves.  Today, we are learning about compassion from the one who did it best and of course, we are talking about Jesus. The scriptures will show how He had compassion on the hungry crowd. We've heard something similar to this before when Jesus fed the  5,000. The kids are encouraged to look up Mark 6 & 8 and Matthew 14 &15 where both feedings are recorded. Parents, help them identify similarities and differences between them. Joshua and I also hope you can join us in sponsoring a child through Compassion International.  We trust the way they work which is why Joshua and I have been sponsoring kids from Compassion International long before this podcast ever aired. Matthew 20:29-34 & Colossians 3:12  We continue our series learning what compassion is from the best teacher, Jesus. Today we hear Jesus show compassion to 2 blind men. Matthew 14:13-21 Today, we begin a series about compassion. We begin by defining it and seeing how Jesus showed us how to be compassionate through His actions. Jesus had just received some sad news about John the Baptist but despite this, he had compassion on the crowd. He healed the sick and fed them too. There is so much to learn from this story that we will do it again in the future to accommodate talking about more of it. The kids will be prompted to consider how they can show compassion to others.  Thanks for tuning in today! Acts 27:21-44   We pick up from last week's story where we find Paul on rough seas as he journeys to visit Caesar. Paul tells everyone about God's promise He has given him......and guess what!??!??! Every single one of those promises comes true! We discuss that God has given us promises too and read some of these from our Bible today. While we hopefully won't be on a creaky boat with waves crashing all around, we too have times where life feels stormy. The kids are encouraged to memorize some of God's promises so we can cling to them when life does get a bit stormy.   Thanks for sharing the Bible with your children!  To connect with me go to https://www.kbspodcast.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Acts 25:10-12 & 27:1-26  This episode introduces Paul and gives a brief history about who he is. Paul is falsely being accused of breaking the law so he asked to be sent to Caesar, since he is a Roman citizen, and discuss his case with him. Today's story picks up here on this exciting journey. Paul boards the creaky ship bound for Italy but on the journey, they encounter rough seas. We will hear the promise God gives Paul and how Paul trusts God even in the storm. It ends in suspense so we will continue this story next week.  Thanks for listening!  To connect with me, visit https://www.kbspodcast.com/ Thanks for listening! Esther 4:15-17, 5,6,7 In order to respect each families ages & stages of life, I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures referenced discussing with your family as is appropriate. These episodes build upon themselves so please listen to Esther part 1 & 2 if you’ve missed them.  Queen Esther saw a problem and instead of pushing it off on someone else to solve, Mordecai reminded her that maybe God made her queen for that exact moment. The kids will be reminded that like  Esther,  God has specific plans for them. God knows we will see certain problems or someone needing help and He wants US to be the one to help. Our loving God wants us to be included in His wonderful plans....the plans may be small or big, but each day God has a purpose for US ! Esther 2:19- 4:14  In order to respect each families ages & stages of life, I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures referenced discussing with your family as is appropriate.   We continue our Esther series. Listen to # 254 if you missed it. Today, we hear Esther has a serious  decision to make. We learn that doing the right thing can be unpopular or even kind of scary sometimes. The kids will think about examples of this in their lives. We remain encouraged that right is always right even if no one else is doing it AND hear that perhaps, Esther was made Queen for such a time as this.  To connect with me, visit https://www.kbspodcast.com/  Thanks for listening! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Esther 1-2:1-18 I respect each families ages & stages of life so I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures yourself discussing with your family as you see fit.  Today, we hear the story of Esther. The kids will hear the context of how she became Queen and that God had a plan for her. They will be reminded to put themselves in Queen Esther's shoes and consider what it may have felt like. Luke 6:43-45 Today we begin a short series on words... ya' know, the things that come out of your mouth when you speak. Maybe you’ve never really stopped to think much about them, they just happen so quickly. Our words do matter b/c they have power and are important.. atleast, that’s what the Bible says. In this episode, we will talk about where words come from & listen to Jesus teaching using an example of something the people were familiar with..trees and fruit. This is not our typical episode. I realized I have not updated how my 5yr old son has been doing. I know so many of you have helped join me in prayer and for that, I am beyond grateful. I wanted to say thank you & give a short update. Though there have been hard times,  God has provided so much for us; whether that's resources, some good medical news, or how He has grown us. I would love to share all of this in detail but I know it may be inappropriate for some children to hear and I want to be sensitive to that.  Thank you for your prayers!!!!!  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Matthew 6:19-21 & 1 Timothy: 6-10,17-19 You will hear this episode start out just like last weeks however, keep listening because we are adding in different scriptures and discussing a new application. We will hear God's warning about money but also His promises. The kids will understand that money itself isn't bad, it's the LOVE of money that gets us into trouble. We apply this on a very practical level as well as discuss what the Bible says about storing up treasures in heaven.  I hope you enjoy it! Thank you for sharing the Bible with your kids! Matthew 6:19-21, 24 & Luke 12:13-15  In today's story we hear Jesus teach "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” We discuss what greed actually is and share an example from my childhood that the kids can relate to. We must be on our guard as Jesus says, because often the world we live in tells us the opposite. It says your life is cool, amazing, and valuable IF you buy this thing or that thing. It is not wrong to want things.. we simply must be cautious that we don't become greedy with our wants. God wants us to trust that He will give us all we really need. He gives us reasons to trust him AND explains why his ways are best which will be discussed on the next episode.  Today's episode is brought to you by Abide. Mark 12:41- 44 This is the beginning of our short series on money. We discuss what we mean when we talk about our "hearts." Today, we hear the story of the poor widow giving out of her poverty. If we quantified it, she gave less than others BUT Jesus still says she gave more than all those who contributed to the offering box. Hmmmm. What does this mean? Well, tune in to today's story to see why it's not the size of the gift that matters.  Thank you for sharing the Bible with your kids! John 20:17-31 Jesus had risen and his followers got to see him! All were overjoyed except the 1 who  wasn't there when Jesus came. Thomas had missed this incredible meeting and doubted what his friends were telling him. We note that Thomas was a real person just like us & like him, we can always talk to Jesus about our questions or doubts.  Will Jesus come back to show Thomas too?!? What does Jesus call us who haven't seen him but believe? Mark 1:41-45 & 2:1-12 Today, we hear a paralyzed man get lowered from the roof in hopes to get in front of Jesus and be healed. I wonder if the paralyzed man was disappointed when the 1st thing Jesus says to him is "Young man, your sins are forgiven.” What? They had gone through all this trouble to have him walk again…what was this about sins?  As we continue the story, Jesus shows us that the biggest issue is our sin but the good news is that He can forgive them. We are reminded of the love He has for us as evidenced by the sacrifice He made to forgive us.  Today's episode is sponsored by Fabric. Daniel had done everything right yet it seemed like everything was going wrong. This story reminds us that even though we do the right things, the outcome can still feel wrong. But be encouraged b/c we hear that God never leaves Daniel's side. The apply section discusses that God loves us and is with us on good days and hard days too. I hope you've enjoyed the Daniel series and if you have missed any, I'd highly recommend you go back and start at Daniel part one. Daniel 4:28-37 In our last Daniel episode, episode #240, we heard the king writing a letter explaining a bizarre dream he had. If you missed it, make sure to go back and listen because this episode builds upon it.  The king's dream ends up coming true & God humbles him in this process. We discuss the difference b/n humility and pride and are reminded that God was so patient w/ the king. God offers us this same, loving patience when we ask for his forgiveness. God doesn’t roll his eyes when we ask for forgiveness yet again but instead, he’s so patient, so loving, that he HE wants to hear from us.....bring us  back to Him when we wander off the path b/c He loves us so much! Matthew 28, Luke 23, & John 19 This is perfect for Easter! Jesus is placed in the tomb but he does not stay there? We hear the joyful news of what happens on that 3rd day! Jesus is victorious!!!  Our story reminds us of who Jesus is and why we should rightfully place our hope in our Savior and in him alone. Happy Easter everyone! John 18:1-18, 25-26 & John 13:36-38 This is a perfect episode to prepare us for Easter. The story reminds the listeners that Jesus always knew Peter would deny him and that Judas would betray him. It reassures us that Jesus had a plan all along and was not surprised. Just as we heard w/ Peter,  you can never do anything that Jesus doesn’t already know about AND he still chooses to love YOU.  Jesus loves you b/c you’re YOU! You are his child, made in His image. No matter how many roosters crow in your life, Jesus will still lovingly welcome you back w/ open arms. Subscribe for just $2.99 a month to get ALL episodes AD FREE! Daniel 4:1-27  If you have missed the previous Daniel episodes, I'd recommend you go back and listen  as the stories build upon themselves.  Today, we hear king Nebuchadnezzar have another dream. Daniel explains that this dream is from God and is a warning for the king. This dream is to help teach him a lesson: to stop doing wicked things and be kind & admit that God is the ultimate ruler of the kingdom and not him. We discuss how this applies to a child's life. The kids will  observe areas that we try to set up our own little kingdoms  and act as  king or queen & we end with being comforted by the reality that our all knowing, all loving, never changing God is the ultimate ruler.   Thanks for tuning in to the Daniel series. COLOSSIANS 2:13-15 Recently, we celebrated Easter and since that time, parents have been sending in fantastic questions kids have had; many of them related to Easter. I am going to do my best to answer PART 2 of the more complex questions :Why Did Jesus Die?  We use a story about two children who disobey the rules and play ball in the house. This ends with a window being broken and the understanding that someone must cover the cost of this mistake. The children realize they can not fix such an expensive mistake and must be forgiven and helped by their parents. Though the parents were not the ones that broke the window,  out of love and their ability to have money, they are able to cover this cost.   We use this example and connect the dots to the Bible that: 1. Our sin is very serious. 2. No human & no amount of money can fix our sins. Jesus is the only one who can save us. He never sinned. 3. Jesus cleaned up the mess we made and absorbed the cost himself when he died on the cross. 4. We all sin and can ask Jesus to forgive us.  Resources for parents:  The Reason for God by Tim Keller. This is an adult book and covers many difficult questions which you can study and then teach your child on their level.   5 Truths About the Death of Jesus  This is an adult article from the Desiring God website. You will need to bring this down to a child's level but it is a good guide of what to begin covering with them.  The Garden, the Curtain, and the Cross Kids book that addresses sin and the cross.  To connect with me, simply to go kbspodcast.com See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Romans 3:23 -24 & John 3:16 Recently, we celebrated Easter and since that time, Parents have been sending in fantastic questions kids have had, many of them related to Easter. Today, we are doing a special episode as I do my best to answer one of the more complex questions : What did Jesus Save us from. I understand there are a variety of ages and backgrounds who are listening so I have tried to keep it age appropriate for most families.   We learn about: 1. Adam & Eve sinning & how that affects us.  2. We all need Jesus and His grace. Grace is a gift, not earned. 3. Sin separates us from God. We are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ. ***** We will not discuss Hell in this episode. Daniel 3 If you missed last weeks episode, I highly recommend you go back and listen as these will build upon themselves. In today's story we hear king Nebuchadnezzar build a golden statue and demand that everyone must bow down to it.  What will the consequence be if they don't? We may not be asked to bow down to a statue but we must be careful because we too can make other things more important than God.... Just as king Nebuchadnezzar wanted that statue to be more important than God. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego's faith shines brightly in this story. It's easy for us to say "God I'll worship you because you gave me exactly what I wanted today." It's a different feeling when we can say “God I really hope this or that will happen BUT even if it doesn't , I will still love you and worship you." That’s what they did! Even in one of their most frightening experiences, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had their Heavenly Father there with them. Just as He was there with them, He will be with you all of the days of your life. Thanks for tuning in to the Daniel series. I hope this always draws the kids closer to knowing Jesus. Daniel 2:1-28,46-49 In order to respect each families ages & stages of life I have adapted some of this b/c of the content in Daniel and the time allotment for the episode. So PLEASE go back and read the scripture yourself including what is appropriate for your family. The King has some confusing dreams and the only one who can explain them is Daniel. Daniel knew this was made possible b/c of God not him, so he made sure God received the credit. The kids are reminded to observe the wonderful things God allows us to do and be grateful versus puffing ourselves up as if it's all b/c of us. Some may think our examples don't seem incredible. God gave Daniel the ability to do something amazing! But the truth is, ours are actually miraculous things! They just seem normal b/c they happen day after day. We get used to seeing the miracle God provides each new day.  Thanks for tuning in to the Daniel series. I hope this always draws the kids closer to knowing Jesus. Daniel 1 In order to respect each families ages & stages of life I have adapted some of this b/c of the content in Daniel and the time allotment for the episode. So PLEASE go back and read the scripture yourself including what is appropriate for your family. Today we hear Daniel asking permission not to indulge in the King's food b/c it would make him impure.  Daniel did not want to disobey God even though it seemed like everyone else was. We apply that our world or culture sometimes wants us to do things that God says not to do. We may feel the pressure to do it b/c well, everyone else is.  The kids see that Daniel knew what was right b/c he knew God's word and he chose to obey even if it seemed no one else was. The kids will hear examples of what this may look like in their own lives.  Thanks for listening! I hope this always draws the kids closer to knowing Jesus. Proverbs 26:12, 1John 3:20, Psalm 139:16, Isaiah 40:28, & Luke 1:26-38 We will be reading these straight through so please go back to this reference if needed. This is part two in our pride series. If you missed last weeks episode, please go back and listen. Today we hear our Bible tell us that God knows everything, that he loves us, and that we can trust him. When we think we know better than God, then we are acting in pride. The Application section helps the kids connect the dots by using an example of a puzzle. We get glimpses of these tiny puzzle pieces in our lives and some pieces are confusing like Mary’s visit with the angel while other pieces are very exciting and happy!   But God sees the whole picture, our whole life... things we can’t but he can b/c God already sees it put together forming a beautiful, purposeful picture.   We must remember not to become prideful , when the pieces don’t make sense or maybe we don’t like them. We shouldn’t try to force pieces together that don’t fit.... then, comes pride: “But God, I know better, I want the picture to look like this, not that!” I hope you enjoy today's story! Proverbs 16:18-19, 11:2, 13:10,29:23 & James 4:6 We will be reading these straight through so please go back to this reference if needed.   Last week, we learned about humility. Today we hear about its opposite… Pride.  Pride can take many forms but today, we are going to hear a made up story to show how pride goes before destruction and is damaging to yourself and others.....how pride can make us  care too much about what others think of us instead of what God thinks. We will hear the scriptures first and then move straight into the story. The Bible is where we go to to understand pride. We discuss the importance of always going back to the Bible because sometimes the world will teach the opposite. The world may clap for things that God tells us to steer clear from. Mark 10:13-16 & Matthew 18:1-4 Today, we hear what Jesus says about being humble. His followers try to keep the children from Jesus but instead, Jesus welcomes them with open arms. He teaches that " The greatest person in the kingdom of heaven is the one who makes himself humble like this child."  This story will explain why children are used as an example of humility and we help the children connect the dots of applying this in their lives. Luke 7:36-50 This is a story about how to fall more in love with Jesus. We hear how a woman who realizes how serious her sin is suddenly now aware of just how sweet Jesus' forgiveness is. This realization turns her heart to love Jesus even more and from this love, she weeps, wetting his feet w/ her tears and using expensive perfume on them. Contrast this with the Pharisee who is there and how much love he shows Jesus. Knowing what is going on in the heart of the Pharisee, Jesus tells him a story to help him understand that he who has been forgiven little loves little. We do emphasis  that Jesus is NOT saying to go and do worse things to be forgiven for more severe things. Subscribe for just $2.99 a month to get ALL episodes AD FREE! Luke 2:4-7 & Matthew 1:21 Today we hear the classic story of Jesus being born in Bethlehem. I am just getting over losing my voice so I apologize that it sounds different.  In our story, we hear that Jesus' birth changed everything. This was part of God's rescue plan but we contemplate what Jesus gave up when he came down to Earth and put on human flesh. The apply section speaks of the significance of His birth. Luke 22:42 & 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 We are doing something different for this episode. We will hear a short scripture from our bible and then listen to an imaginary story about Molly and Will to help us understand the scripture. Molly & Will just read our scripture AND you’ll hear they both experience the same exact day.  Will they react the same way to their day though? Today's story reminds us that God is not upset when pray for him change the situation. We look at Jesus as our example who prayed to his Father in Luke 22  " If you are willing, remove this cup from me. Yet not my will, but yours be done." God wants us to pray about anything and everything but Jesus is also our example that we must trust Him even if the situation does not change. Can we trust Him? You sure can. Luke 17:11-19 This was one of our archived episodes. We hear 10 sick men ask Jesus to help heal them. Jesus helps them but how many are grateful and actually thank him? We may think that we would never do such a thing but the story reminds all of us that we too have taken things for granted or not giving God the praise He deserves. Thanking God doesn't have to be long or filled with fancy words. In fact, some of our listeners today share things they are thankful for and set an example of being grateful.  Subscribe for just $2.99 a month to get ALL episodes AD FREE! Psalm 100, Philippians 4:4-6 , Colossians 4:2, & Ephesians 6:10-18 This month we are continuing to talk about gratitude, being thankful. We hear the Bible whisper over and over again to give God thanks. Being thankful is like a powerful weapon to combat greed, anxiety, and our enemy. We hear how Satan told a lie in the Garden and he is still trying to trick us w/ his lies today. To combat this, we learn to use the Truth..that there is already so much we have to be thankful for. When we choose to see the wonderful things , we realize we already have so much to be thankful for..and being thankful, it’s like kicking the enemy in the teeth.  It protects our hearts & how we feel. It guides our thoughts to the goodness of God and reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from our Heavenly Father above.  Subscribe for just $2.99 a month to get ALL episodes AD FREE! Psalm 139 & Acts 17:25-26 This month we are going to talk about gratitude, being thankful. Today, we jump right in learning that you can thank God for making you. He has a plan for you, a purpose, and was not suddenly surprised, scrambling to figure out where you would live and when you’d be born. God made YOU on purpose & the Bible doesn't say you are just an okay, kind of good work of God ... it says that you are a wonderful work of God ! If you’ve missed the Exodus series, please go back and listen as they build upon each other. This is the last story in our Exodus series! We did it! Today we get to hear the the walls of Jericho fall and God's people enter the land. They obey using trumpets and shouts to make the wall fall. We apply that obeying God doesn't always look like we think it would.  Sometimes we think it will look like superhero work or will be shown on the news BUT our every day obedience to God matters and may seem small but it's really, really BIG.  Subscribe for just $2.99 a month to get ALL episodes AD FREE! Joshua 3 & 4 I respect each family's ages & stages of life so I have adapted some of this. PLEASE go back and read the scripture yourself including what is appropriate for your family. If you’ve missed the Exodus series, please go back and listen as they build upon each other. Today we hear God provide in another mighty way as they begin to cross over to Jericho. We will recall similar ways He provided earlier in Exodus and how He told them to keep items to help their descendants remember. Last time it was a jar of manna and this time, it's something different. God knows we are prone to forget and He wants us to give ourselves and the next generation, reminders of how faithful He is. We hear what the Israelites used for their reminders and discuss what we have in our own lives that serve as reminders of God's faithfullness.   Thanks for tuning in. Deuteronomy 31, & 34:10-12, Joshua 1 & 2  I respect each family's ages & stages of life so I have adapted some of this. PLEASE go back and read the scripture yourself including what is appropriate for your family. If you’ve missed the Exodus series, please go back and listen as they build upon each other.  Today we hear Moses dies at 120 yrs old and Joshua takes over leading the people. God reminds them over and over again to not be afraid... that HE will be with them wherever they go. The people prepare to enter Jericho but 2 spies assess the land first and they receive help from Rahab. Rahab has heard of God's mighty works and offers to help them. We apply the truth that God is  with us too; even on those sad or frustrating days, God is with us!  We can be encouraged as Joshua was.  Thanks for tuning in. Exodus 32, Numbers 13 & 14 I respect each families ages &  stage of life so I have adapted some of this. PLEASE go back and read the scripture yourself including what is appropriate for your family. If you’ve missed the Exodus series, I’d highly recommend you go back and listen as they build upon each other.  Today we get to hear what the people did while Moses was receiving the 10 commandments, hear the spies check out the promised land, and learn how Joshua and Caleb clung to God's promises. We hear them walk by faith and not by sight. We will hear that the unbelieving generation doesn't get to enter the promised land and how it will be their children who will enjoy the land flowing with milk and honey which God promised to them. The kids will apply God's promises to their own lives and think about which promises are easy to see and which are harder to see. The story connects the dots that we can trust God's promises, like Caleb and Joshua did, even when it can be hard. Thanks for tuning in. Exodus 19: 1-8, 16-20 Today we hear Moses called to the top of Mount Sinai where God gives him the 10 commandments. We learn what a commandment is. Next week, we'llgo through the 10 commandments and hear what they are but today, we will focus on why we even have them. God gave them and us these 10 rules which showed how life worked best. We begin to understand that rules are there to protect us b/c God loves us. The kids apply this to a rule in their life to help them better understand this.  Thank you so much for helping your children hear the Word of God and grow their faith.  Subscribe for just $2.99 a month to get ALL episodes AD FREE! Exodus 17:8-13 Today we hear about the battle with the Amalekites. During this battle, Moses must keep his arms raised or else the Israelites begin to lose! When Moses grew tired, he had two helpers at his side: Aaron & Hur. We apply that God gives us people to help us too. God created us to be with others.... to have family and friends, a church, & a community. He gives us people who can help us when we grow tired, just like he did for Moses.  Thanks for listening and sharing the Bible with your children!  Subscribe for just $2.99 a month to get ALL episodes AD FREE! EXODUS 17:1-7 If you’ve missed our Exodus episodes, I'd highly recommend you go back and listen from # 199 or # 207  b/c the context is important and the stories will build upon themselves. Today, we hear the Israelites struggling in the desert as they journey to the promised land. The Israelites thought this hardship meant God wasn’t among them but that’s simply not true. We can remember the truth, that though we will have sad, and difficult days… God sees you, is with YOU , and loves you! We hear how God is with the Israelites and provides for them time and time again.  Thanks for listening and I pray this podcast always helps the kids develop a relationship with Jesus.  Subscribe for just $2.99 a month to get ALL episodes AD FREE! Exodus 16: 31-35 We continue our Exodus series. God instructs Moses and Aaron to place some manna in a jar for the next generation. As time passes and the Israelites get older, God wants them to be able to see that manna sitting in the jar and remember that time in the desert,....remember what God did and his faithfulness. They’ll continue to tell their children,  grandchildren, & great grand children the miraculous story of what happened to them in the desert. We apply this to our lives and recount if we have items in our life that serve as reminders of how good God is. We discuss ideas to use for this and help get the family involved. Exodus 16: 17-31 Today, we hear how some of the people did not listen to God's instructions about gathering manna. The Israelites, didn’t listen to God b/c they didn’t trust Him. They didn’t trust He would rain down bread again the next day ...they didn’t trust HE knew best. We apply this to our lives and examine why we don't listen all the time either. The story reminds us that we can trust God AND if he is trustworthy, that means we can listen to Him. Listening means more than just hearing w/ your ears.. it also means, obeying with your actions. The Israelites who listened obeyed God’s instructions about gathering Manna. I hope your family is enjoying the Exodus series. Thank you for tuning in! Exodus 16:1-16 Wandering in the desert, the people become hungry. God had just miraculously provided for them but  the Israelites have quickly forgotten. What an exciting story this is! God says the forecast is set for raining bread and meat!!!! Exodus 15:22-27 Today we find Moses leading the Israelites in the hot desert when things become hard. They begin to grumble b/c they have no water! God had just performed an incredible miracle, saving them from the Egyptians by parting the Red Sea for them BUT the days were hard and they quickly forget that God can provide just as He always has. This story warns us to be cautious b/c we too, quickly forget good things from God and can begin to grumble just like the Israelites did. When things are hard, we can remember this story and choose to remember, what He’s done for us in the past. It doesn’t mean we can’t be sad, pray, or talk to Mom or Dad about how we feel, but it does mean we choose to remember the truth: that God is good, and God loves you even on those hard days… Subscribe for just $2.99 a month to get ALL episodes AD FREE! Exodus 9 & 10 Today we are in part 8 of our Exodus series.  We will hear the last few plagues. In today's story, we connect the dots that God wants us to know HIM. He doesn't play hide and seek but instead, truly wants us to know Him.  After many of the plagues, we hear God say he used his power so that everyone would know that He is God and that no one could boast that they had saved themselves, but it was truly only God who saved them; bringing them out of Egypt. This is the 2nd episode in our series on Exodus. We begin with Moses now a grown man. Moses ends up taking matters into his own hands and ends up fleeing from his home.  Our story will teach us some more about Moses but our big take away will be that God heard the Israelites cries. God hears in ways which we can not. He hears us no matter how we feel, where we live, or how many of us are talking at once. Matthew 16:13-19 Today, we hear Jesus asking his disciples who people say He is. Their response is interesting. We are reminded to go back to our Bibles to check if what others say about Jesus is actually true. Next, we hear Jesus ask," Who do YOU say I am?" This is an extremely important question!  The children will be encouraged to ask themselves who they say Jesus is and what He is like. Romans 3:23 -24 & John 3:16 Recently, we celebrated Easter and since that time, Parents have been sending in fantastic questions kids have had, many of them related to Easter. Today, we are dong a special episode as I do my best to answer one of the more complex questions : What did Jesus Save us from. Hell is biblical and should be discussed in your family when it's appropriate. I did not address this here as I want to respect families and the personal discussions that need to occur in the home for this. ****** I am including the link Desiring God here as a resource on how to discuss hell with your children.  Subscribe for just $2.99 a month to get ALL episodes AD FREE! John 18, John 19 ,Luke 23, & Matthew 27  (EASTER PART 2) Parents, today we are going to be talking about the cross. I respect each families ages/ stages life so I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures listed including what is appropriate for your family.  I will be talking about topics which you may not wish to discuss yet so please listen to this beforehand. We have done a younger version of this story which can be found on episode #96 called “he is Risen.” If you feel that is a better fit, please go listen to # 96 and save this one for when the time is right.  In today's story, we hear Jesus speaking with Pilate.  Pilate thought he was in control but Jesus reminds him of the truth. We are comforted remembering Jesus is always in control even when things can seem scary or confusing. We end w/ Jesus' death on the cross. The story connects the dots that Jesus' love doesn’t change or depend on what you do. If you ever wonder if He loves you, you can simply remember what happened on the cross.  We will pick up the rest of the story next week! Subscribe for just $2.99 a month to get ALL episodes AD FREE! Matthew 26 :36-56  Today begins our Easter series! I want to respect each listener's ages and levels of understanding, so I have adapted some of these for the needs of our audience. Please go back and read the scriptures yourselves to include what is appropriate for your family.  I will also encourage you to listen to all of the episodes in this Easter series in order, as the stories build upon themselves. This story begins in the garden of Gethsemane and ends with Jesus being arrested. We remember that Jesus could have whispered 1 word and 100’s of angels would have appeared to rescue him BUT he didn’t do this. Why? Because He chose to. He chose to obey God b/c he loves God the father!!!! God’s plan had been there all along to rescue us b/c he loves us that much! The children will be reminded that Jesus is always in control and that He loves them very much!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Mark 5:35-43 This is part 2 in our short series. If you missed #184, please go back and listen so you understand the context better. Today, we hear Jesus going to the home of Jairus to heal his very sick girl. It seems like Jesus is too late but his timing is perfect even if it doesn't make sense to us.  We are reminded that Jesus sees all and knows all. Jesus does heal the child and lovingly calls her "little girl." We are reminded that we have a loving, protective, and kind Father in Jesus. We too are his little children.   Thanks for listening! Mark 5:21-34 In our story, Jesus asks who touched me. This seems like a silly question b/c Jesus knows everything. He has numbered the hairs on our head, He knows what you had for breakfast, and He knows what you are going to do tomorrow. He knows everything about everyone! So then, if He knows who touched him, why would He ask? Tune in to hear what the Bible says about this as Jesus performs another miracle healing a sick woman.  Thanks for listening! John 3:2, 16-19, 1John 3:1, & 1John 4:19 All of our readings have something in common....they speak of God's love for us. We are reminded of God's promises that hold true even when we do not feel it. The kids think about what having a bad day feels like and we discuss how feelings are important but sometimes, they can trick us to forget the truth. This is where we turn to our Bibles and remind ourselves the truth of just how much God loves us regardless of if the day we are having feels like a good one or a bad one.  Thanks for listening! Luke 4:1-13  This week we will learn a different lesson from Jesus being tempted in the desert. This is part 2. We hear the crafty devil tempting Jesus with power & fame. Jesus doesn’t fall for the lie. He knows true joy and happiness comes through God not things or status. He knows serving God is more important than power and fame. The kids will be reminded that God made all kinds of good things we get to enjoy, but the problem comes when we want to have that thing way more than we want to love and worship God. Jesus is our example of how to handle these temptations.  To contact me, simply go to kbspodcast.com Subscribe for just $2.99 a month to get ALL episodes AD FREE! Enjoy and tune in for part 2 next week. Moses ends up taking matters into his own hands and ends up fleeing from his home.  Our story will teach us some more about Moses but our big take away will be that God heard the Israelites cries. Heaven...what will it be like? No one knows all of the answers to this but we will use what the Bible tells us about it through John's experience. Today's story will cover these parts of heaven: 1. God will be with us 2. Everyone and everything will live in perfect peace 3.There will be no sickness or hurting 4. There will be no more pain; all the pain/sadness we've felt on Earth will be undone and repaired. I respect each families ages and stages of life so, I have chosen specific scriptures for this. Luke 10:25-37 A man asks Jesus to explain who his neighbor is. Jesus then tells the story of 3 men who passed by a hurt man but only 1 of them helped him. Only 1 of them treated the hurt man as his neighbor. We learn what the Bible means when it says you must love your neighbor as you love yourself. Our story shows us it matters WHO we are. Are we people who will help others and obey Jesus or will we only do so if it's the right person, place and time to do so.   The apply section will help the children connect the dots and apply this in their own lives. This is an informational episode to tell you about our NEW read-a-loud book, Dan the Great Fish!  That's right, a 19 page, beautifully illustrated book that you can use on digital devices OR print from home.  I partnered with another wonderful mama, Katie Martin, to illustrate this book. Not only is this woman talented, but she gives 10% of each month's profit to a family in the adoption process. Click the link here to read her story  The Read-A-Loud book comes from 1 of our most popular episodes Dan the Great Fish.  This is the story of Jonah and the great fish, BUT from the fish's perspective. It's a heartwarming tale, reminding us we are all uniquely and purposefully made by God! The book comes to you as a PDF sent to your email. I created it so you can have multiple copies and we kept the colors printer friendly as well.  To get your book: 1. go to kbspodcast.com 2. click the "Read-A-Loud" tab and follow the prompts 3. This episode was a special request from some of our listeners. This will also be longer than our typical episode to fit in the context of the story. Today, we get to hear the classic story of strong Samson. What will Samson do when he loses his strength  because of his hair cut?!?!? We will hear how mighty Samson was faithful & cried out to God for help!  Even though Samson sinned, God still used him and forgave him. ***NOTE TO PARENTS: I want to respect what you feel is appropriate for your children at their individual stage and age of life. I also have a variety of age ranges that listen. Because of this, I have left out some of Samson's events. Please go back and read Judges 13-16 and feel free to discuss  this in more length with your children if you feel it is appropriate. ***** To connect with me, please click the link below: https://www.kbspodcast.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In today's story, we hear a letter from our friend Paul. He reminds us that when we feel nervous or anxious,  we should notice what we are thinking about. Sometimes our minds can run wild with crazy thoughts that just aren't true or good. Our feelings can lead us astray at times. We will do something special today, and hear a short story about a girl named Kayleigh. Kayleigh is nervous about having to speak in front of her class BUT she remembers the Bible story her and her mom just read from Paul. Tune in to see the story in action.    Thanks for listening! Exodus 19:16-20 & 20:1-17 Today we get to learn about the 10 commandments. Did you know that commandments are like rules? I'm sure you even have rules in your very own home.  In today's story, we will hear how God made rules because he loves us. Sometimes, we can hear rules and be frustrated because we think they aren't letting us have any fun. But with God's rules, that's just not true. These rules help keep us safe, close to Him, and live a joyful life. We will hear an example of what this means in today's story.    To connect with us please click the link below:  https://www.kbspodcast.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Mark 4:35- 41 & John 16:33 Today we hear how Jesus' friends were scared during the storm. With the wind and waves tossing them about, their boat could sink! They were terrified. Even during this scary circumstance, Jesus was there. He had not left them. Sometimes we get it confused and think Jesus is only around when we are winning all of our sports games and eating cupcakes all day. That's just not true. Jesus tells us that we will have troubles but to take heart, b/c He has overcome the World. John 16:33 Tune in to hear how God is with you each and every day NOT just on the good days.    Episode #4 "Jesus Calms the Storm" is the same story but with different application questions. Today we get to play "what if" with David. David had already been anointed to be the next King yet he was still cheerful in obeying the every day, ordinary tasks. Tasks that would have seemed to be far beneath a king. When David woke up that morning, he didn't know he was going to be battling Goliath! There was opportunity for him in the ordinary. IF David had done just a few things differently, he may not have ended up fighting Goliath, saving his people, and glorifying God. David's attitude towards the ordinary helped him be ready for the opportunity to beat Goliath.  To hear the entire David and Goliath story, please listen first to episode # 112A.
