The ovaries have the ability to produce testosterone indefinitely in a different part of the ovary, even after the eggs are depleted. This explains why removing the ovaries, even in post-menopausal years when they are no longer producing estrogen or progesterone, can negatively impact a woman's health and increase mortality. The prime directive of life is reproduction, and humans are the only species on the planet that actively work towards controlling their reproductive fate. Unlike animals in the wild, humans have the capability to make deliberate decisions about when to have children. Setting aside the aspect of choice, it is crucial to understand that the female body is inherently optimized and designed for fertility and reproduction.
