Description: When a child starts hitting, kicking, or becoming aggressive, our initial reaction is often to punish them. However, punishing a child by sending them to time out, taking away their favorite activity, or grounding them for a weekend, does not effectively teach them right from wrong. I believe that no punishment can teach them because they already know what they did was wrong. What’s going on in these circumstances is that their prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain responsible for reasoning, is not fully developed yet, making it difficult for them to make sound decisions, which happens as adults too. Today I’ll share with you what you can do when aggressive behavior shows up in your kids.Enjoy today’s episode?
