Description: At some point in your child’s life, they will experience things which may cause overwhelm, and we won't be able to prevent them from feeling these tough emotions. However, we can be the safe place for them to be when things are tough.  Having deep empathy for our children and allowing them to fully emote helps those feelings pass, be processed so our child can move forward and be the cooperative kind kid they are meant to be. Mindfulness Jars, Cool Down Corners and Breathing Techniques may "get" kids to calm down, but at what expense? Where have the feelings gone and what will then glean from our expectation of calm? Listen in as Michelle explains just this.   Episode Highlights: What are the pitfalls of mindfulness jars and cool-down corners and breathing techniques? What can you do when things are difficult for your child? Being empathic shows unconditional love. What is co-regulation and how can we model it? Telling our child they need to calm down might be giving them the wrong message.
